Homosexuality, a sin or sinner’s issue?

The sanity of Christian spirituality today has been fashioned by post-modernism, taking a swift wave from “Thou saith the Lord” to “Experience and intellectualism”. Intellectual spirituality has been given primacy to personal relationship with God and His Word. Many Christians who were supposed to be watchmen to guard the church of God and to influence society in character and words, have been led by societal blindness and therefore don’t know the relationship between a sinner and Savior.

In the current ongoing debate about homosexuality which is sneaking into national constitutions, many Christians who have raised the prophetic finger against it have been branded with names such as hypocrites, unjusts, unlovings, etc. Yet, noon have accused God for destroying Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness — He being the ultimate essence of love. It is written “For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” 1 Corinthians 1, 25.

When did our love for sinners over exceeded that of God? We as Christians are not called to judge, molest or attack sinners, we’re called to be partners with Christ who through our corporation extends His grace to sinners. But this kind of saving grace does not always come with exhortation and comely words. Grace sometimes rebukes, denounces and disciplines until the sinner comes to a full understanding of his wretchedness and need for a Savior.

In the Bible we’re told that God destroyed the world then with flood because their sins were exceedingly great (Geness 6, 11). Last days’ epidemic of evil is comparable to Noah’s days according to Jesus (Mathew 24, 37). Paul made it clear what took place that the abundance of sin brought about God’s wrath upon them. He says:

“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.” (Romans 1:26-27). In fact when you read further till verse 30, you could understand how evil took over from justice. Sinners were “God-haters”, invented ways of doing evil (verse 30).

Today you could imagine the many tactics homosexuals have employed to deploy their agenda. First they call themselves gays not homosexuals. They argue that they’re born to be gays. They have their own definition for marriage as not being heterosexuality but two becoming one. They have movements and political backings. They have influenced and deceived political leaders and some religious leaders all in the name of human rights. And now gay marriages are being passed as legal civil rights in many countries.

Do I care about these as a Christian?

Maybe someone will say I don’t care. Well today, gays have succeeded to re-translate the KJV of the Bible to remove every print that cast a shadow on homosexuality. This Bible is called Queen James Bible. Find link here <a=href””>Link to Queen James Bible</a>. This is how far homosexuality is gone. It has always been Satan’s arm in the last days to criticize and change God’s Word. It has become a revolutionary political driven force to turn the authority of God’s Word and the Church into the ditch as the serpent deceived Eve to push God’s word aside. Remember the Bible says “the serpent was more clever and crafty.”

Christians to support gay human rights?

Who said it is Christ-like spirit to come out with statement in support of gay human rights? It is a mistake to think that human rights are gays’ right. Human rights are built on justice and when we talk of justice, we talking of right conducts, keeping the law. When one refuses to exercise his rights to keep the law, he loses it to the law which places him under penalty. The truth we all refuse to loud it out is that homosexuality is caused by an environmental influence other than genetics. Few research supports the latter.

Again Paul continued by saying “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these things very things but also approve of those who practice them” (verse 32). Approve of those who practice them? It seems like abetment of crime. Gay rights are promotion of homosexuality except that someone deliberately refuses to accept this. Today, it has become a fashion as we see some celebrities who feel that it is the safest. And because of the massive spiritual blindness and mixture of cold water into hot water (lukewarm attitude) among the churches, Christians can’t even figure it out. Ellen White says in (The Review and Herald, November 10, 1885):

Is there not enough transpiring about us to show us the dangers that beset our path? Everywhere are seen wrecks of humanity, broken-down family altars, broken-up families. There is a strange abandonment of principle, the standard of morality is lowered, and the earth is fast becoming a Sodom. The Sodomitish practices which brought the judgment of God upon the world, and caused it to be deluged with water, and which caused Sodom to be destroyed by fire, are fast increasing. We are nearing the end. God has borne long with the perversity of mankind, but their punishment is no less certain. Let those who profess to be the light of the world, depart from all iniquity.

As Christians, we must engage in rigorous saving missions. We’re to express our love and kindness to all humanity. We’re to be loving just as God is love. But Jesus Christ who is presented as the Lamb of God (John 1, 29) is also introduced in these last days as the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5, 5). We cannot present one side and leave the other. We have a moral obligation to stand up against open evil no matter what the cost.

Gays say, “You can’t choose your sexuality, but you can choose Jesus…” And I say “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” Jesus can heal genetic deformities and He does it well because when He saves a life, He takes responsibility of transforming it. He’s a man of all time.
