Are you sure of Christmas?

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2: 1-14.

As I walked around to say hello to folks in my apartment, I only met a serene quietness. “What is happening?” “Yes it’s Christmas holiday (not Holy day).” “And where is everyone, are they gone to church?” “No, they are partying with friends and families. You must profit! Go to the beach, there are beautiful women there.”

Paganism has never been on it’s height than during Christmas seasons. Well decorated with solemnity of Christ, our minds are so soon swept away from Him to sensual ecstatic pleasure and festivals, drinking and partying, beaching and discoing, shortage of alcohol, goods and services, high expenditure and costly decorations. No matter how your understanding maybe, you cannot object the fact that Christmas was carved from pagan tradition. You may have a nice reason to justify it to be right.

Ancient paganism is back into the church and this is one of Satan’s mastery to unite the church with the world. Now Christmas is almost a world’s festival other than a Christian celebration. From the Bible verse above, check the following if you really experienced the birth of Jesus Christ:

  • Did you experience the glory of the Lord?
  • Did you celebrate the birth of Jesus or you experienced him as a person in your life?
  • Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ and Lord of whom God is reconciling the world to Himself?
  • Where were you and what did you do?
  • What songs did you play? “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” Or what?

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 1 Timothy 3:1-5

Let us all guard the little oil in us and ask the Lord to refill our lamps, for I strongly believe that, many of us are losing our faith but hold on, it won’t be long, we will be going home!

  1. Good message. If only people will take delight in discovering the truth! For many are the celebrants who have very little or no knowledge at all about what Chist-MAS means. God bless you, Pastor.
